The reality of life.
I search for beauty in all.
Dogs that fly.
He had a dog that he loved
his companion.
His father made him get rid of the dog?
I asked him why and he said that his father did not think he was caring for the dog well enough?
I was saddened to see him without his friend.
Living on the edge,
disabilities,
no medication
steps from homelessness.
Buttons
Here is one of the three large cyanotype panels that I made recently
with buttons my brother gave me.
I will sew the cyanotypes together;
they will be included under the heading"Textiles" when completed.
Self Portrait
On asphalt.
The slit in my pants.
My elbow tucked close to my body.
It is warm and the shaking of the earth,
moves my body and is frightening at the same time.
Bikes.

Away from shadows.

Age appropriate,
the placement of their products.
One bike is out of sequence.
Maybe a prospective buyer took it for a ride
training wheels and all?
They are here in rain,
will they be here in snow?
Self Portrait
With a camera.
The garden at Olana.
An open gate,
welcomes me.
I enter,
an expansive vista,
I fly, with the dog,
to meet my mother
and her spirit that is always
with me.
The Garden at Millbrook Country House,
where I stay when visiting my family.
It is a home that was built in the 1800's.
Upon entering, it is filled with Italian furnishings,
it makes me feel as if I were staying at an Italian home in Padua.
The owners are incredibly talented and kind.
I was told by the proprietor that they will be selling the Inn
and moving back to Italy sometime before next year.
Having been able to spend time at the Inn by myself and once with my sister
will always hold fond memories for me.
I feel a sense of loss, as I get older the impermanence of people, places, and things
are nouns that get lost in my conscious mind.

Sunny Day
Japanese Anemone
Against white picket fence
Oh, what a beautiful day! My dress needs pressing, working in the garden allows for some discrepancy.
Something in-between
Layers of a book,
in a box
folded,
typed
and neatly tucked away,
in a closet.
When it reveals itself to me through objects and obsessions in that dark
cave of a space,
I long to touch the paper.
The Lilacs at Highland Park,
A tree garden designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
In a-part of this garden there are approximately 1,200 shrubs and over 500 different varieties of lilacs,
making it the largest collection in the world.
In the House of Lilacs.
As I walk through this park,
my eyes are shut.
Upon entering the house of lilacs,
my mind retreats,
I let the shrubs that have grown gnarled into silhouettes over the years,
guide me through the landscape.
Highland Park.
I Stand,
past the Japanese Maples,
I spy
a horizon.
A softness in the texture.
on the edge of sky and tree.
The unreachable horizon,
can only be touched
in the quiet and still rectangle.

The Tree Peony.
We bought her as a little tree at White Flower Farms in Litchfield Connecticut,
I planted her where she did not thrive that well in Providence Rhode Island. We moved and uprooted her and she lived in Marblehead MA and she started to mature.
She was uprooted again and now the Tree Peony ends her journey in Rochester New York, where the glaciers deposited beautiful rich soil, she is thriving now.
The Tree Peony is about 20 years old.
All dressed up and no place to-go ?
